Project1-Data Visualization of NYTimes

February 20, 2015 in Data Arts

[embed]https://vimeo.com/120173545[/embed] I had saw a new before which said biases against women still pervade many places on the Internet. For example , Wikipedia, which is designed to use the expertise of thousands of editors who write the articles and try to make sure they are accurate and unbiased. However, some editors on it are men and  editors has skewed Wikipedia’s coverage towards topics of interest to males.

This makes me thinks a lot, and I'd like to know how female changed their position in the society, which concept affect our society a lot and cause us recur the conception of feminism.

Then I explored the feminism related words' frequency during 1900-2014 on NY times and want to get a glimpse of  how much attention the society pay to female.

I connected NYTimes Article Search API, and catches the Keywords in every year's article-- Feminism, Sexual Liberty, Female Politician, and the antonym of Feminism -- Paternalism.  Then I  make the data visualization in Processing to analyze and show these data information.
